It's going to be less feeding the birds and more feeding, well, you with a Mary Poppins supperclub tonight. Just when you thought you'd heard every possible theme for a dinner, HOTHOT Magazine have trawled the far reaches of food creativity and come up with a feast inspired by the classic Disney kids flick (which is actually 50 years old this year, fact fans). The Banks family* are keeping pretty schtum on what's on the four-course menu, but we've been promised you even get a peak inside Mary's bottomless carpet bag. Prices might be a little steep at £75, but that's all food and drink included and you can't really put a price on supercalifragiliciousexpialadocious fun, can you? Tickets available from here.
*Not the actual Banks family
Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy first birthday dear Rajiv's Kitchen's...well, you know the rest. And Rajiv is celebrating the best way he knows how, with a Nepalese four-course meal and cocktails. On the special menu is chicken momos and lamb meatballs on a bed of spicy aubergine for starters then an all-out spectacular array of mains, including goat and pumpkin curry, herbed trout, sticky lamb ribs and potato and yoghurt salad. Dessert is a dreamy-sounding cardamom infused vanilla icecream with summer berries and sesame dust. Way better than a Colin the Caterpillar cake from M&S. Tickets cost £40 from here, the event takes place upstairs at Palm 2 in Clapton and starts at 7.30pm.
Fingers crossed we haven't seen the last of the sun, as the Railroad Cafe on Morning Lane is holding a Southern Blues BBQ. Not that there's anything to lament about when you've got this much good food on offer. Hitting the grill is their Treble Six chicken, slow cooked beef brisket, Boston butt (easy...) and a range of tasty sides. The smoking fun gets going at 6.30pm, singer James Brute will be performing and it's free. Hell yes. For more details see here.
