Sabel

One of our favourite pop-ups of the year, Sabel, is back for just two nights, Thursday and Friday. They're taking over F. Cooke's shop in Hoxton for a three-course pie and mash meal, with proceeds going towards the Row2Rio challenge. On the menu is a white port and tonic to start, then partridge sausage rolls, croquete de queijo and scallop ceviche. Then, a choice of either oxtail and beef cheek pie with smoked mash (which might be one of the best dishes of the year) or root vegetable pie. For dessert, there's malted chocolate bread and butter pudding. Tickets cost £35 from here - get cracking!

 

 

VenetiKitchen

Friday also sees a special Venetian Christmas meal from Veneti Kitchen - and you can be sure it's authentic, as they checked in with their Italian nonna. They're serving up Prosecco and cicchetti to start, then it's fritto misto (fried seafood), pesto and shaved sprout pizzette, Venetian lasagne, bollito misto, a 'Pandoro Christmas tree' and finally coffee and torrone. Tickets cost £45 from here, it takes place upstairs at Palm 2 in Clapton and it starts at 7.30pm.

 

Then things start to get really festive - well, it will be exactly one week until we celebrate the birth of the big JC. And The Elmore Jam want us to celebrate Natale (Portuguese Christmas) with them this weekend. Masterchef Pedro Passinhas is in charge of the kitchen and will be laying on a feast of caldo verde, prawn rissole, baked salt cod with crushed potatoes and winter greens, then for dessert, traditional carrot fritters with cinnamon - well, it's one way to get your one of your five-a-day.
