Let's start off with a little Italian flavour and with a My Home From Umbria dinner. That means delicious ingredients flown over from Italy and served up in an atmospheric church setting in Exmouth Market. On the menu tonight is courgette flan, timballo with asparagus and provola cheese, artichoke-stuffed rabbit and to finish, a crostata with handmade custard cream. Tickets cost £33 from here and it starts at 7.30pm.
There's a real buzz around the '70s again, isn't there? Following on from The Art of Dining's super-popular Abigail's Party supperclub a few weeks ago, Christabel's is hosting a 1970's Disco Diva Cocktails and Nibbles night this weekend. For £40, that's a night of five cocktails paired with handmade bites like beetroot cured salmon, soy ginger honey chicken and fig, Stilton and pomegranate croustades, all served up on vinyl records and with a soundtrack that would happily get John Travolta's feet twitching. It all takes place in Hoxton, click here to get tickets.
It's one for your doggy chums this weekend as the animal-cafe trend refuses to die. The Curious Canine Kitchen will be serving up two settings (1pm and 3pm) on Saturday and Sunday for a five-course "holistic" meal for the animals as part of The Complete Herbal Book For Dogs movement. The dogs will feast on textures of tripe, steamed chicken with kale and dandelion quinoa, beef consomme and "artisan" marrowbone from Hill and Szrok. Owners will get a seven-course raw food menu including sauerkraut with sesame and ginger dressing on spirulina seaweed raw cracker and quinoa coconut and mango salad, plus there will also be an on-site fido photo booth. This might be the most East London thing to happen, ever. Tickets and more details here.
Brunch is taking a trip over to Ghana this weekend, as the mother-daughter duo Chale! Let's Eat take over the Stage 3 venue at Hackney Empire. The £19.25 ticket gets you a whole host of exotic brunch fare, including okra chips and khoose chilli bean dumplings, smoked aubergine, yam and tomato pottage, twice-baked plantains with beef or coconut aduki beans, then deep-fried sweet plantains with baobab and fruit sorbet. The event runs 11am-3pm and tickets are available from here.
