Popping up: 18th - 20th September

Chit Chat Chaai are pairing some of their great Indian street food with some silent Indian cinema classics in a two-week takeover at Stage 3 in the Hackney Empire. On the menu are yoghurt puris, chicken pakoras with chutneys and mango mess for dessert. They'll be screening film Mother India for the first few nights while you chow down on the food. Tickets cost £22 from here and it starts at 6.30pm.

It's also the last in Monograph's series of sushi nights in the basement of a Dalston cinema. On the menu is sushi (duh) specifically 24 pieces that include saikyo miso salmon, daikon with avocado, ponzu and red shiso and yuzu smoked mackerel. Tickets cost £29 from here and it's BYOB, so it's a winner all round, really. Starts at 7pm.

Now we're in that bit between the excesses of summer and the craziness of Christmas/NYE, it's time to slow down a little and eat something that's going to be good for us, but delicious as well. That's where The Hive come in. They're throwing a little plant-based dinner party on Friday and Saturday in Bethnal Green. On the vegan menu (all biodynamic and organic, natch) is macadamia cheese, E5 Bakehouse crostini, black venus rice and raw pizzas, followed by cashew cheesecake and affogatos. There'll also be a range of natural wines, too. Tickets cost £30 from here and it starts at 6pm.
